Werribee North Main Sewer North of RRL - Truganina, Victoria
The Werribee North Main Sewer North of RRL project is gravity sewer infrastructure built for Greater Western Water and transporting sewage from Rothwell Estate to the Werribee Main Sewer system.
Califam’s scope included installation of approximately 1.7km of GRP gravity sewer ranging from 650mm diameter to 1200mm diameter at depths up to 7.5m.
The alignment followed closely and mostly parallel to Skeleton Creek and included three creek crossings which presented significant environmental risk.
The project included a trenchless crossing under Regional Rail Link train line and installation of a syphon across Skeleton Creek.
The main challenges faced included:
- Multiple interested parties which had to be satisfied in addition to the client and Greater Western Water including Melbourne Water, Wyndham City Council, EPA, V/Line, Victrack, the landowner and residents.
- Minimisation of environmental impact of works adjacent to Skeleton creek and while undertaking creek crossings.
- High risk bore under the rail line with restricted work area on one side near a residential area and requiring a partial road closure.
